Nail Service Guidelines
Q: Does Valley take walk-in appointments?
We welcome clients on a walk-in basis, however, we recommend scheduling an appointment in advance to guarantee your service.
Q: Do you offer group appointments and private parties?
Yes and yes. For group appointments, please call us and we’ll take care of you. For information on private parties and events at Valley or elsewhere, please see our Private Events page.
Q: What is your cancellation policy?
We request that all changes to appointments be made by calling 212.274.8985. Services must be rescheduled or cancelled at least 24-hours prior to your appointment.
Cancellations and reschedules made after this time may be subject to a 50% cancellation fee.
For groups of 4 or more we require 48-hours notice and a 50% refundable deposit.
Q: What if I'm running late for my appointment?
Please call us if you are running late for your appointment.
A late arrival may limit our ability to completely deliver your originally scheduled service. Clients who are more than fifteen minutes late for an appointment without notice may forfeit their reservation.
Late arrivals resulting in a shortened or forfeited appointment are responsible for the full price of originally scheduled services.
Q: Do you repair peeling Gel?
We are happy to repair a Gel Manicure or Valley Nail Extension within one week of the original appointment. The same applies to any three-dimensional art work such as crystals or adhesives.
There is a nominal charge for any of the above fixes after one week. We take every measure to ensure a long lasting polish manicure, however, due to the impermanent nature of traditional nail polishes and lacquers, we cannot guarantee the lifespan of regular polish manicures.
Q: I just had my nails done. Can I book an appointment just for Nail Art?
We take pride in the services we perform and we cannot guarantee the work from another salon or technician. Therefore, we are only able to offer appointments for Nail Art on nails we have personally manicured.
We're sorry that we cannot fill or overlay anything on existing acrylic, hard gel, silk wraps, or gel polish applications from another salon, as we cannot guarantee the results.
Q: How much is Nail Art?
Nail art may be scheduled in 15, 30, 45, or 60-minute sessions as an addition to any service.
A 15-minute nail art session is enough time to receive a basic design on all 10 nails, such as a glitter gradient or a reverse french, or something more intricate on 1-2 nails per hand, and it will range in price from $10-35 depending on the final design. There is a flat rate for 30 + minute nail art sessions.
Q: I scheduled an appointment for a Valley Brazilian Wax. What should I do to prepare for the service?
Bathe and clean the area with warm water, as you would in preparation for a doctor’s visit. As always, avoid using soap, as this can offset your PH balance and cause irritation.
Avoid putting any lotion or oils near your bikini on the day of your wax, as this can make it difficult for the wax to adhere to the unwanted hair.
For your convenience, Valley provides PH balanced, feminine wipes so you may freshen up before your wax.
If you are currently or recently using Retinol, Accutane or high dosage of active peel, please consult with your doctor before booking any waxing services.
Q: At which of your locations can I receive this service?
We only offer waxing at our Elizabeth Street location.
Q: I've had really bad experiences being waxed (it was incredibly painful, it gave me ingrown hairs, bruised, etc...), but my friend told me you guys are the best. How is the Hard Wax that Valley uses any different?
Hard wax is a relatively painless process compared to strip wax, as well as producing smoother and longer lasting results. Hard wax wraps around the hair follicle without adhering to the skin, pulling the unwanted hair directly from the root.
Conversely, strip wax adheres to both the hair and the skin, and it can be painful. Strip wax can also break if it doesn't pull it out at the root. This can cause hair to get stuck under the skin, ultimately creating ingrown hairs.
Q: I’m menstruating. Can I still get waxed?
It is ok to get waxed during menstruation. However, bare in mind that during menstruation it is common to be more physically sensitive.
